The Fuji Spray 2-stage Semi-PRO systems are an excellent budget choice.
The Fuji Semi-PRO and Hobby-PRO spray systems use a 1400-watt 2-stage bypass motor in a metal turbine, for 5.0 PSI.
Fuji Spray says this is the most powerful 2-stage HVLP system on the market, and in May, 2024, US News & World Report named the Fuji Semi-PRO the best HVLP system for DIY users.
Like all high-volume low-spray (HVLP) finish and paint sprayers, these Fuji Spray 2-stage systems minimize over-spray, wasted paint, and air pollution.
Choose among 3 models:
The Fuji 2202 Semi-PRO 2 System with a bottom-feed M-Model spray gun with a 7020-#3 1.3 mm air cap and a quart spray cup. Smaller cups are also available.
The Fuji 2203G Semi-PRO 2 Gravity System with a gravity-feed M-Model spray gun with a 7020-#3 1.3 mm air cap and a 13.5-oz fluid cup. Ideal for small jobs and spraying in tight spaces. It can be quickly converted to a bottom-feed system without buying any extra accessory except for the quart cup assembly.
The Fuji 2250 Hobby-PRO 2 System with the bottom-feed M-Model spray gun —with a 7020-#5 1.8 mm air cap for spraying heavier finishes, including latex. Fuji includes an extra set of turbine filters with this system.
These Systems come with good budget spray guns:
The Fuji M-Model spray guns have some professional features:
They’re non-bleeding — spraying only when the trigger is pulled. This saves fluid.
The handle is insulated for extra comfort.
And a rear-mounted fan control knob lets the user adjust the spray pattern size from small circular to wide oval (and all increments in between.)
Parts are available, including extra air cap sets
Turbine filters need to be washed and eventually replace, and every spray gun has consumable parts that wear out. These parts are readily available from me. (I’m also an authorized Fuji Spray service agent who can repair a spray gun when needed.)
Six different air caps are available for the M-Model spray guns that come with the Semi-PRO system. The Semi-PRO models come with a 1.3mm air cap already installed, since it’s a medium size that’s as close to all-purpose as possible. The Hobby-PRO is designed ready to spray latex paint and other thicker fluids, so a 1.8mm air cap is installed in that.
To extend the range from very thin coatings like shellac, all the way to extremely thick coatings, you can buy additional air caps in the 7020 series any time you wish. You can also buy your Semi-PRO with a package that includes one or more extra air caps. See below.
Semi-PRO packages are also available
The bottom-feed and gravity-feed Semi-PRO systems are also available with extra accessories and consumable parts in bundled packages.
Buying a package saves you shipping charges and time when you need these items later. (There’s no extra shipping charge to the extra items when you buy a package, even though the system and extras are shipped from two different locations.)
Package items can include:
Extra air cap(s) in a different size — packages add 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 extra air caps. Help choosing air cap sets!
Extra pair of turbine filters. (Fuji recommends having an extra pair on hand, since washing and drying them is important for maintaining your system.)
6-foot whip hose, for easier maneuverability in tight spaces.
You can see the packages available for the Fuji 2202 bottom-feed system here, and for the Fuji 2203G gravity system here.
Sorry — packages are not available for the Hobby-PRO system.
Semi-PRO turbines also available Separately
You can use your existing HVLP spray gun with a Semi-PRO turbine. I do offer the Fuji 1102C Semi-Pro turbine and the Fuji 1103C Hobby-PRO turbine separately on the Turbines page. And I have Fuji HVLP hoses, spray cups, and other accessories to complete your system.
2-Stage compared with 3-stage or higher fuji systems:
The Fuji Semi-PRO and Hobby-PRO systems spray more slowly than the Fuji Mini-Mite Platinum models.
The M-model spray guns are heavier and less convenient than the Fuji T-system spray guns.
These Fuji 2-stage spray systems are much louder and whining than the Fuji Platinum Q-system series (which in turn are quieter than the Mini-Mite systems).
For occasional use or as a budget buy, these three Fuji DIY-PRO HVLP sprayers are a good buy. If you’re not sure they’ll be right for your uses, just call me at 800-377-5662 so we can discuss your needs. (M-F 9-5 CT).
I also offer help here on the website, on choosing the best HVLP system for your needs.
