Choosing a Fuji HVLP spray gun:
There are two basic spray gun styles, depending on how the container of fluid attaches to the gun.
Good for spraying larger areas: A “bottom-feed” spray gun locates the container of fluid below the gun, nicely balanced, so the container can be as large as a quart — though both smaller and larger containers are available.
Good for smaller jobs and getting into tight spaces: A “gravity-feed” spray gun locates the container of fluid above the gun.
All the Fuji HVLP spray guns are well built, but some are more convenient to use.
(The links here take you further down this page so you don’t have to scroll.)
If you want the best for a Fuji HVLP spray system, choose one of these three spray guns:
The budget-priced Fuji M-Model spray gun comes with the Fuji Spray 2-stage systems, and can be used with any HVLP turbine. Both a bottom-feed and gravity-feed version are available.
(Fuji SprayTAN (now called Fuji SUNLESS) applicators have their own page.)
Personal Note from Roger Phelps: I have sprayed with all of the Fuji spray guns dating back to the original SC-1. Even though I have considered all of them to be excellent, the T-Series spray guns (T70 and T75G) in my opinion are the best that Fuji has ever made in terms of quality of finish, ease of operation and workmanship.
For professional spray guns to use with an air compressor, not an hvlp turbine, see How to Choose a Fuji Auto Spray Gun. The newest Fuji Auto sprayers are optimized for auto body coatings, but can be used for other finishes. Note that the earlier MPX-30 compressor spray gun is a good multi-purpose spray gun, and the LX-20 is optimized for woodworkers.
Fuji T-Series Spray Guns
Non-bleed - Air passes through the spray gun only when the trigger is pulled. Less dust blows around, and less paint builds up on the tip of the fluid nozzle.
20% lighter than most HVLP spray guns
Ergonomic, comfortable stay-cool nylon handles
Superb finish atomization and High Efficiency nozzles for smooth results
Exclusive side-mounted, easy to reach patented Pattern Control Knob
The Pattern Control Knob allows you to switch the size and shape of the spray pattern (at the ideal distance of 8 inches from the target) from
a small 1-inch circle
to as large as 15 inches,
and anywhere in between.
This gives a degree of precision control that is not available in any other top of the line HVLP turbine spray gun.
The T70 and T75G use the Fuji 5100 High Efficiency Air cap set ups.

Fuji T-70 Spray Gun - Bottom-Feed
The Fuji T70 is often mistakenly referred to as a "suction feed" spray gun. Fluid is not sucked up the feed tube from the cup, (which is the way a high pressure spray gun works), but is forced up the feed tube via pressure that comes from the turbine, through the pressure tube, into the cup.
Check out two videos of spraying a house with the Fuji T70 spray gun.
While the T70 spray gun sprays well both vertically and horizontally, it sprays upwards for only a limited time unless the configuration is changed. You can turn the pickup tube towards the back of the cup to increase the time.
The Fuji T-70 comes with a metal quart cup assembly, and for shorter jobs, 8-ounce plastic cups are available. (These are also handy for storing coatings.)
The assortment of 7 High Efficiency air cap setups can cover all possible coatings you might want to spray — ranging from the 0.8mm (#1) to the 2.5mm (#7).
The T70 comes standard with the #3 (1.3mm) setup installed, but any other size can be substituted as a special order when you place your order, at no extra charge.
You can convert the Fuji T70 to a gravity-feed gun with the Fuji 9960 U-Tube Conversion Kit
Fuji T75G Gravity Spray Gun
The Fuji T75G is a pressurized top feed or "gravity" spray gun. It comes standard with a 600cc (22.5 oz) nylon cup that requires no gasket.
You can also buy 3 oz, 400 cc (14.5 oz), and 1000 cc (34 oz) cups as accessories.
The T75G can only spray upwards for a short period of time. Use a PPS system or pressure pot to spray a ceiling or any large area upward.

Fuji Gxpc - Gravity Feed Spray Gun
For spraying upward for long periods, consider the Fuji Gxpc spray gun. The pressurized cup is side-mounted instead of mounting at the top like the T75G. This allows the cup on the Gxpc to rotate, so it can spray upwards with ease.
The side mounting of the cup also makes this gun extra compact, for spraying inside cabinets or other cramped spaces. Another convenience is the built-in kick stand, for setting the gun down — no extra spray gun stand needed.
Gxpc Pattern Control
Like the T75G, it has a metal Pattern Control knob mounted on the side, to adjust the size and shape of the fan, so you can adjust the spray pattern to the exact size and shape you need. Turning the air cap changes the oval from horizontal to vertical, and you adjust the fluid rate with a knob on the back of the gun.
Cleaning the Gxpc is fast and easy. The gun does not have to be connected to the hose or turbine. You just partially fill the spray cup with the appropriate solvent, wind out the fluid knob and pull the trigger, then direct the fluid stream into a container. (You can save the container for another cleanup — a good reason to buy the Fuji Mini 3-ounce Spray cup set with lids.)
The Gxpc uses the Fuji 8050 air cap setups, with a choice of five sizes, ranging from 0.7mm (#2) to the 2.2mm (#6). Learn more about which size to use for which finish -> Choosing Air Caps
In addition to the 400 cc (14.5 ounce) cup that comes with the Fuji Gxpc, 3-ounce cups are available for it. A swivel fitting allow you to attach the bottom-feed 1-quart cup to the Gxpc, or you can buy the swivel fitting with the quart cup as a kit.
For bigger jobs, you can use a 2 quart or 2.5-gallon pressure pot.
Fuji M-Model Spray Guns
The Fuji M-Model spray guns are a budget-priced series — heavier and not quite as convenient as the T70, T75G, and Gxpc guns. The fan control knob adjusts the spray pattern size and shape from a small circle to a wide oval, and all increments between — but it’s mounted on the back in a less convenient place than on the more expensive guns. The gravity model is side-mounted but doesn’t rotate for spraying up or down.
Still, the Fuji M-Model spray guns have some professional features. They’re non-bleeding, spraying only when the trigger is pulled. The handle is insulated.
The M-Model spray guns use the Fuji 7020 series of air cap setups, and come with a #3 size installed. Learn more about which air cap to use for which finishes.
The Fuji M-Model 7002G Pressurized Gravity Spray Gun is a budget-priced spray gun that’s almost like two guns in one, because the U-Tube side mounting of the spray cup allows you to convert the gun from gravity-feed to bottom-feed. Ideal for DIY and hobby enthusiast use, or as an extra spray gun.
Side-mounted 400cc (13.5oz) non-rotating metal pressurized gravity fluid cup, with U-tube connection that enables easy conversion to bottom-feed cups available separately.
Comes with Fuji 7020-3 1.3mm medium-output air cap installed – suitable for most stains, sealers, auto base coats, poly and solvent varnishes, and bathtub coatings.
Durable build – metal knobs, non-corrosive stainless steel fluid needle and nozzle.
Comfortable insulated Stay-Cool handle.
Non-Bleed design minimizes noise, air turbulence and dust, paint buildup on nozzle tip.
Comfortably large rear-mounted fan pattern control knob adjusts spray size incrementally to any point between a 1-inch circle to 12-inch oval; Front collar adjusts pattern between circle to horizontal or vertical oval.
