The Big Question: Refinish Cabinets? Or Replace?
ARE YOU PLANNING ON CHANGING THE LAYOUT OF YOUR KITCHEN IN A MAJOR WAY?
For example, moving a wall? Or adding some extra new cabinets? In either situation you might consider purchasing new cabinets — especially if you are looking for a lot of updated features in your cabinets or a different style of cabinetry.
Then again, you can add onto your cabinets with new unfinished cabinets that match your existing cabinets in wood and style and have them finished to match your old cabinets or have all the cabinets refinished in a new color scheme.
DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE LOOK OF YOUR KITCHEN, BUT RETAIN THE SAME LAYOUT?
Another possibility is refacing, where only the doors are changed and a new veneer is applied to the cabinet frames. Refacing, although it is on average twice as expensive as refinishing, it is still a great deal less expensive than replacement. Refacing is particularly appropriate when you want to change the style of your door and drawer fronts while retaining the same layout of your kitchen.
Refinishing is the most economical way to change the look of your kitchen with the least amount of fuss. By changing the hardware and refinishing a kitchen can look like brand new.
DO YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR HOME EASIER TO SELL?
I’ve had many customers who have refinished their cabinets for the sole purpose of making it easier to sell their home. A newly refinished kitchen not only adds tremendously to the value of your home it also makes it much easier to sell. Painting, has the ability of making even the most raggedy cabinets look like new.
REFINISHING CABINETS CAN TRANSFORM THEM — AND THE WHOLE KITCHEN
Many people who are happy with the color and style of their cabinets find that for a very reasonable cost they can refinish the doors and drawers only, (where most of the wear and tear takes place), and remove years of use, and make their cabinets look like new again.
Refinishing can be an economical and easy answer to your kitchen remodeling questions, I've seen hundreds of kitchens transformed with a new counter top, a new floor and refinished cabinets.
